At the end of December, my husband and I were in Sarasota looking at a host of different communities for a two bedroom vacation condo. Although we had never visited the Lakewood Ranch area, we thought we'd look around there. After meeting with representatives at Lakewood National, we immediately fell in love with it, but wanted to see a few other places just to be sure. We walked into the Michael Saunders office in Lakewood Ranch and asked to speak with someone about the area. Although we did not have an appointment, they were happy to speak with us. We met with Stuart Lawrence and he gave us a great deal of feedback on the area and based on what our interests, he said he would email us a few places to drive by and if anything was of interest to let him know. By the time we got to our car, we had an email with several properties that fit our wish list. After seeing a few, we noticed there were two were located in LW National where we had looked earlier in the day on our own. Stuart was able to have his partner (wife) Laura meet us later that day to show us the units. One of which was the one we had seen earlier with the builders real estate rep., after some discussion we decided to purchase the first unit we saw. Since we were dealing with Laura and Stuart they became our realtors and helped guide us through the purchase process. A very valuable piece of advice they gave us was to hire an outside home inspector which was very helpful. Laura and Stuart are very professional and knowledgeable of not just the Lakewood Ranch communities but many communities in Sarasota. Stuart was the on-duty realtor at Michael Saunders & Company when we wandered in on a Sunday morning in November not having any idea where we were looking for a retirement home, or when we would be looking to make a purchase. He took the time to talk with us about our interests and tell us about Sarasota in general and specifically the Lakewood Ranch area. Seiing or buying a home in Florida is not that easy, and it can also presents problems. We were very fortunate to have Laura and Stuart Lawrence recommended to us by a former neighbor. We were especially pleased with the performance of our agent, Stuart Laurence, with support from his wife Laura. Stuart's engaging personality and enthusiasm made it easy for us to spend time with him. His focus never waivered from finding us the "right" buyer for our home. He was quite knowledgeable about our market and had an excellent price/value perspective. He was patient with us as we reluctantly agreed to "adjustments" to make our home more saleable in a "buyer's market" with significant competition. And when we did receive a "serious" offer, he moved quickly and consistently to lead us through the sales process all the way to closing. Everyone present at the closing on both sides of the sale commented on how "seamless" the ownership transfer went. He was a big part of that. We have agreed to employ Stuart to help us with our next step -- to purchase a smaller home in the Sarasota-Bradenton area. We expect to begin that process in the relatively near future.
