When we decided that we wanted to purchase a home in Lakewood Ranch with only little knowledge of the area, we knew that we needed local assistance. By chance we met up with Stuart Lawrence and Laura Lawrence and it was the start of a great relationship which helped us navigate not only a new build while we were living in another state but also helped us “weather” two horrific hurricanes to hit the area. Stuart and Laura kept us updated with the progress of our home as it was being built (thankfully no damage from the storms!), regularly sent us photos and videos, coordinated with our builder rep, responded quickly to questions via calls and texts, and even provided info about our new larger community to help with our transition. At the end of December, my husband and I were in Sarasota looking at a host of different communities for a two bedroom vacation condo. Although we had never visited the Lakewood Ranch area, we thought we'd look around there. After meeting with representatives at Lakewood National, we immediately fell in love with it, but wanted to see a few other places just to be sure. We walked into the Michael Saunders office in Lakewood Ranch and asked to speak with someone about the area. Although we did not have an appointment, they were happy to speak with us. We met with Stuart Lawrence and he gave us a great deal of feedback on the area and based on what our interests, he said he would email us a few places to drive by and if anything was of interest to let him know. By the time we got to our car, we had an email with several properties that fit our wish list. After seeing a few, we noticed there were two were located in LW National where we had looked earlier in the day on our own. Stuart was able to have his partner (wife) Laura meet us later that day to show us the units. One of which was the one we had seen earlier with the builders real estate rep., after some discussion we decided to purchase the first unit we saw. Since we were dealing with Laura and Stuart they became our realtors and helped guide us through the purchase process. A very valuable piece of advice they gave us was to hire an outside home inspector which was very helpful. Laura and Stuart are very professional and knowledgeable of not just the Lakewood Ranch communities but many communities in Sarasota. Seiing or buying a home in Florida is not that easy, and it can also presents problems. We were very fortunate to have Laura and Stuart Lawrence recommended to us by a former neighbor. Both realtors have many years of experience and treat their clients as if they were members of their own family. Laura and Stuart can also rely on an international net work of the world wide acting company Saunders, which give great support in legal questions. In our case the buyer had great problems of obtaiing home owner insurance because of hurricane IAN, easements on our property had to be eliminated and last but not least, thanks to Laura and Stuart we got in touch with specialized lawers,who helped us to solve all that problems in a very short time. Laura took care of us as the seller, and Stuart worked together with the buyer. Many questions could be clarified and decided in advance or within the process of contract negotiones up to the closing, because we as seller were constatly in contact with Laura and Stuart from Switzerland via FaceTime and Emails, and we were only present in person at University Park, FL. shortly before the closing on October 26th.
